containers that can be used for the ProteoGenix Clinical Laboratory
molecular, chemistry and microbiology tests.
For PCR testing - complete the following steps using the
sterile 5-mL transport tube labeled “Amniotic Fluid Molecular PCR
Assays”.
NOTE: must use ProteoGenix tubes to
prevent contamination. No other containers are acceptable.

b. Inject 1.0 mL of amniotic fluid into the tube. (minimum required
volume 0.5 ml).
c. Recap the tube tightly.
For Aerobic culture, Anaerobic culture, Mycoplasma culture and/or Gram
stain - complete the following three steps utilizing Port-A-Cul™
vial:
Write patient’s ID on the Port-A-Cul™ vial and specimen transport tube
labels. Fill the Port-A-Cul™ vial first and then dispense the remaining

d. Using a sterile alcohol swab, cleanse the rubber stopper.
e. Puncture the rubber stopper and slowly inject 2 to 3 mL of fluid
into the vial.
f. Retain syringe and the remaining fluid.
For Glucose testing - complete the following steps using
the sterile 5-mL transport tube labeled "Amniotic Fluid Chemistry
Assays".
a. Using aseptic technique, remove the cap from tube.
b. Inject 0.5 mL of amniotic fluid into the tube. (minimum required
volume 0.1 ml).
c. Recap the tube tightly.
